COVENTRY City manager Chris Coleman says he is pleased with the outcome of his side's pre-season trip to Switzerland despite them heading back with two friendly defeats.

The Sky Blues went down 1-0 to local side and Swiss First Division outfit Stade Nyonnais on Friday night which followed a 3-1 defeat to Romanian side FC Brasov on Wednesday.

Coleman, though, says he is not concerned about pre-season results but more about the state of his squad's fitness with the Championship season less than four weeks away.

"Nyonnais provided us with the sternest test we've had all season but I knew they would because they are a good side and we chose to play them because of that. But it was never a case of about who won or lost," he said.

""Clinton Morrison had not played since the end of last season and neither had Freddy Eastwood and the most important thing for them and all of the lads was that they all got some time under their belts. I told them to go out and treat the Nyonnais game as a training session and they did that.

"It's been a tough week for them but that was always the aim because this trip was meant to concentrate on the physical side of things. We wanted to get the lads as fit as possible before we came home and I think we've done that."

The squad flew back to the UK on Friday night following the defeat to Nyonnais, with Coleman and his coaching staff following on Saturday ahead of another week's pre-season training at Warwick University.

Coleman, however, says he will start to tweak his preparations for the Club's remaining three friendlies to get the squad ready for the start of the season.

"We are going to start looking at things a bit more tactically now and concentrate more on the football because now is the time that we start to sharpen up our actual play. We have the trip to Cambridge and then two friendlies in Scotland so we will now start to look at things from a more tactical angle.

"But I'm pleased with the way the last few days have played out and we are flying home with no injuries so as a manager you have to be pleased about that."
