Amateur footballers travelled from London to Coventry to take part in a charity match at the home of the Sky Blues which raised around £1,500 for the Bobby Moore Fund.

Old Wimbledonians, who play in the Morden & District Sunday League, fielded its first and veterans teams in the inter-club championship match at the Ricoh Arena.

Two goals from Steve Norman gave the first team a 2-0 half-time lead before Julian Agostini reduced the arrears in the 55th minute. Goalkeeper Lee Butler made a great save to deny Dan Norman from the penalty spot to prevent the first team from extending their advantage.

Julian, who is the managing director of Mash Media - the UK's leading magazine publisher in the exhibition, event and conference industry - said: "It was fantastic to play on a professional pitch. Compared to the places where we normally play it was like comparing champagne and ginger beer.

"Everybody loved it and more importantly we raised about £1,500 for the Bobby Moore Fund which raises money for research into bowel cancer and also public awareness of the disease.

"As a West Ham fan, Bobby Moore has a special part in our club's history and it is great to have boosted his charity with a four-figure sum."
