Sky Blues midfielder Kevin Thornton met with representatives from Warwickshire Royal British Legion recently to present them with a cheque for £1733.50 towards the Poppy Appeal.

The money was raised as part of a Coventry City Football Club campaign that saw match shirts from City's November clash with local rivals West Brom auctioned. The special one-off shirts, with poppies embroidered onto them, were signed by the players and then bids were taken through the Club's official auction site.

Warwickshire RBL County Chairman, Mr Philip Wilson, and County Manager, Mr Alan Mallett, met Thornton at the Ricoh Arena to receive the funds. The money will go towards providing financial, social and emotional support to millions who have served and are currently serving in the Armed Forces and their families.
