Ricoh to hold key rugby match
Coventry's Ricoh Arena will host the Heineken Cup semi-final between Saracens and Munster on April 27.
Saracens surprise 19-10 win over The Ospreys at Vicarage Road on Sunday handed the Ricoh its third major rugby union showcase.
Saracens will again have to defy the odds to beat a star-studded Munster side who knocked out Guinness Premiership leaders Gloucester on Saturday.
Daniel Gidney, chief executive of the Ricoh Arena, said: "Last season we hosted a semi-final because Northampton won in Biarritz which was unexpected.
"Saracens had lost heavily to The Ospreys the last time but their result is good news for us.
"The Ricoh was designed as a multi-purpose venue - and it is certainly being that."
The game will mean a very quick transformation of the Ricoh, which plays host to Coventry City against Wolverhampton Wanderers just 24 hours before.
Gidney added: "It will mean a great deal of work but we have been making plans over the last couple of weeks and everything is in place."
Derek McGrath, chief executive of the ERC, said: "This will be the third major game which we have held at the Ricoh and hopefully it will be as successful as the first two.
"We have always had a very warm welcome and we hope to attract rugby supporters from Coventry and Warwickshire as well as followers of the two sides."
Ticket details will be announced in the next few days.
