Coleman on Owls draw
Chris Coleman said the Sky Blues should be positive about taking a point from their game against Sheffield Wednesday, despite conceding a stoppage time equaliser.
Zavon Hines appeared to have given City a vital three points when he came off the bench to score the opening goal seven minutes from time.
But defender Richard Wood headed a last gasp equaliser for the Owls, although Coleman believes that the point favours the Sky Blues, who currently sit in 18th place, three points above the drop zone.
"All in all we've got to be happy with a point because really that's two points dropped for Sheffield Wednesday," said the City boss. "They were at home and would have been looking for three tonight.
"It is disappointing because we conceded so near the end but we still got a point and that's going to be important at the end of the season.
Colman added: "If we could have got the three points tonight the gap would have been quite big. It would have put us on 51 points and I said 52 or 53 would see us safe.
"But in all fairness to the players they gave everything they had. We're disappointed because we had three points in the bag with a minute to go and we're disappointed to concede from a set piece when they'd thrown a lot of players into the box.
"But we've defended well lately and sometimes, if a team throws enough balls into the area, the law of averages says that one of them is going to go in."
In just his second appearance for City since signing on loan from West Ham, Hines looked to have put the Sky Blues on the road to victory with a well taken volley and Coleman credited the 19-year-old for the quality of his finish.
"Since he's been here he has acquitted himself very well and he took his goal fantastically. He's only young and inexperienced but we just thought he'd add a little bit of spark. He's not ready for 90 minutes yet but the more he plays, he'll grow into it.
"We've seen him play a few times for West Ham reserves, although Keano (Steve Kean) has seen him more than me. We wanted a new face and we wanted to shake things up a little bit and Zavon has done that."
